What is Happy Destiny House?
Happy Destiny House is a non-profit based in Tacoma, WA and is currently working on obtaining federal 501c3 status. Our goal is to provide a structured sober living environment, rooted in 12-step recovery for individuals who are low income or experiencing homelessness. Happy Destiny House will make a significant impact on the Pierce County community, in both short-term relief, and long-term skill development and empowerment.
Born from an unmet need in Tacoma
The current availability of sober living in Tacoma is inadequate. There simply are not enough to accommodate the 1,700 homeless Americans living in Pierce County. Moreover, there are few options that offer both low income housing, and recovery support. This is the crux of the problem. Because substance abuse can be both a cause and a result of homelessness, it is imperative that both issues are addressed simultaneously.
The Happy Destiny House would offer a supportive housing program that is unmatched in the greater Tacoma area.

Why Are We Different?
We are the only level 2 sober living house in Tacoma, employing a house manager, and providing extensive 12-step sobriety support, vocational training, and other social services to our residents. Many sober living houses simply expect sobriety but do not offer the needed support to maintain sobriety, or do not keep residents accountable, leaving other residents at risk. Happy Destiny House was started by a small group of people who have extensive experience with sober living homes (both professionally, and because we lived in them) and we know what works.
